Objective: The participation of individuals in financial markets has significantly increased in recent years. The increasing interest of many members of society towards participating in the stock market and engaging in trading activities in this area, incorporated a significant portion of government employees as well. These individuals, aligned with other segments of society, turned to engaging in stock market activities; a group of individuals who were supposed to be occupied with administrative tasks during stock market hours, but their personal interests altered their course of action.
Method: In the present study, a constructive paradigm has been used within the framework of a qualitative approach of phenomenological strategy. To this end, semi-structured interview tools were employed to explore the perceptions and lived experiences of 15 employees of governmental offices in the city of Mashhad who were selected as key informants and information providers.
Results: Following the implementation of interviews and in-depth data analysis, the consequences of employees' financial activities during office hours have been categorized into two main themes: "consequences related to the organization", "consequences related to the individual" along with 5 sub-themes for classifying 36 initial concepts identified and categorized.
Conclusion: Inability of an organization to prevent its employees' financial activities and the absence of legal guidelines to restrict economic activities can be considered as weaknesses of administrative systems. Therefore, despite companies utilizing mechanisms and control policies to combat non-official activities during official hours, such behaviors are still observed among employees.
